 Historical Note

Phi Alpha Theta was established nationally in 1921 at the University of Arkansas as a coeducational honor society for undergraduate students, graduate students, and professors of history. The Ohio State University chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is known as Zeta Chapter, and was established in 1927.

At the Ohio State University, Phi Alpha Theta offers awards and scholarships to student members who excel at history, as well as hosting speakers; in the past, members have also participated in intramural sports. The group also runs the History Club, which offers extracurricular activities related to history, and is open to all students regardless of major. Phi Alpha Theta is active at the Ohio State University as of 2018.
