Historical Note
The Philomathean Literary Society was an undergraduate student organization at Ohio State University. The club was founded in 1894 as a women’s literary society, and existed until at least 1945. As of 2018, it is not an active organization.
Scope and Contents
The Ohio State University, Philomathean Literary Society Records contain writings, administrative materials, and commemorative materials, dated 1894-1945. Writings include autobiographies, book reviews, essays, plays, poetry, and sketches. Administrative materials include the constitution, correspondence, financial records, membership lists, and minutes. Commemorative materials include a history of Philomathean, clippings, programs, and a yearbook.
