As of 2018, Pi Alpha Xi is a national honor society for undergraduate and graduate students in floriculture, ornamental horticulture, and landscape horticulture. The national society was founded in 1923, and the Epsilon Chapter at Ohio State University was established in 1929. As of 2018, it is an active student organization at Ohio State University, and its members are selected based on academic achievement and interest in horticulture.
The Pi Alpha Xi, Epsilon Chapter Records contain correspondence, minutes, national constitutions, by-laws, and other administrative records of the organization. An annual report and newsletter of the National Council for Therapy and Rehabilitation through Horticulture are also included. The collection material dates from 1929 to 1989.
