 Biographical Note

James Alva Wilgus (1867-1939) was a student at Ohio State University from 1884 until 1888. Wilgus graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. In 1889, Wilgus joined the Ohio State faculty as an assistant professor teaching Latin and history until around 1890.

The James A. Wilgus Papers contains teaching materials from when he was a student and a teacher, such as exams, essays, and class notes. It also contains two epaulets from a cadet uniform he wore. The materials date from 1883 to 1890.
