The materials date from 1883 to 1890.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>James Alva Wilgus (1867-1939) was a student at Ohio State University from 1884 until 1888. Wilgus graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. In 1889, Wilgus joined the Ohio State faculty as an assistant professor teaching Latin and history until around 1890.</p>
