Biographical Note

John Calvin Lotze (January 11, 1906 - June 5, 1981) was a graduate student of zoology and entomology at Ohio State University from 1930 until he received his Ph.D. in 1934. While working toward his Ph.D., Lotze was a graduate assistant and assistant instructor at the Ohio State University. Lotze conducted research for his degree at Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory on Gibraltar Island in Lake Erie. In 1934, Lotze joined the Sigma Xi fraternity as active alumni. Lotze officially joined the Ohio State University faculty in 1935 as an instructor of zoology and entomology. Later, he worked as a researcher for the National Animal Parasite Laboratory in Beltsville, MD.
