A native of Columbus, Nancie Mlakar Bechtel attended Ohio State University as a nursing student from 1978 to 1982. Her subesquent career included positions at now_nationwide-Children's Hospital, the Central Ohio Trauma System, the Columbus Public Health Commission and the Columbus contact center for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
