Scope and Contents

This collection contains an oral history interview transcript and compact disc recording with LaQuita Henry, an OSU alumna who participated in a sit-in in 1968 to call attention to disparities on campus in the treatment of white and African-American students. LaQuita Henry describes attending Ohio State University during the late 1960s, including her involvement in the events that led to the April 26, 1968, sit-in at the then-Administration Building, now called Bricker Hall. Henry was one of 34 students, all African-American, who were indicted after the sit-in on felony charges that included kidnapping. She was later expelled. However, she returned to Ohio State University to finish her degree. Henry also notes the many positive changes that she has witnessed recently on campus that reflect a greater emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
