            <abstract id="ref12" label="Abstract">The Ray Bourhis and Sally Lanyon Oral History Transcript and Compact Disc Recording contains a transcript and audio recording of an oral history interview conducted with Ray Bourhis and Sally Lanyon on April 10, 2014. Lanyon and Bourhis are credited with the creation of the Brutus Buckeye, the Ohio State University mascot, in 1965. The interview discusses the origin on Brutus and its progression as a mascot over the years.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Ray Bourhis and Sally (Huber) Lanyon became students of Ohio State University in 1963. In October 1965 Bourhis and Lanyon worked with Ohio Staters to build a papier-mâché buckeye mascot at the Pi Beta Phi sorority house and debuted it in the Ohio Stadium at the Homecoming game. The mascot later became the official Ohio State University mascot, Brutus Buckeye.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Ray Bourhis and Sally Lanyon Oral History Transcript and Compact Disc Recording contains an audio recording on compact disc and a transcript of an oral history interview conducted by Tamar Chute on April 10, 2014. The interviewees are Ohio State University alumni Ray Bourhis and Sally Lanyon, who discuss their involvement in the creation of Ohio State University's mascot, Brutus Buckeye, in 1965. They also discuss its progression as a mascot over the years.</p>
