 Biographical Note

Kathleen Lechman (born 1970) is the Director of Equity and Inclusion at the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences for Ohio State University. Before this position, Lechman was the Program Director of Diversity Development at the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

 Scope and Contents

This collection contains an oral history interview of Kathleen Lechman, Director of Equity and Inclusion for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Ohio State University. Lechman discusses her role, which she has held since 2001, when she was hired to oversee civil rights compliance. Though her position and title have not changed, her role has evolved to include overseeing a diversity catalyst team, which she created in 2007, and organizing Diversity Leadership Symposiums. She discusses how representation does not necessarily indicate equity, and she also talks about the need for the university to strive for both international and domestic diversity.
