Dr. Gay B. Hadley was a student and administrator at the Ohio State University; she arrived at the university during a time of great change in the 1980s, when the climate for women in the workplace was shifting towards more inclusivity and opportunity. Hadley held the positions of Associate Director in the Office of Continuing Education, Associate Executive Officer for Career Development, and Acting Vice President for Human Resources. The Gay Hadley Oral History Transcript and Compact Disc Recording contains an interview of Dr. Gay Hadley from August 15, 2013. In this oral history, Hadley discusses her time at the Ohio State University as an older student and later an employee, what it was like to be a woman in such a male-dominated workplace, and her role as a female administrator at the university.

<p>Dr. Gay B. Hadley (born March 4, 1930) was a student and administrator at the Ohio State University; she earned her master's degree in education in 1976. Following this, Hadley divorced her husband and began a career and educational counseling agency for adults called "Options." She returned to Ohio State University and completed a Ph.D. in 1982, after which she was hired by the university as the Associate Director in the Office of Continuing Education. Hadley was responsible for initiating the Bridge Program to increase availability of evening classes on campus to allow university employees to work towards college degrees. In 1984, she was instrumental in helping run the first ever Campus Campaign, which rised $14 million in the first 5 months of fundraising. In 1986, Hadley was promoted to the position of the Associate Executive Officer for Career Development. Then, after serving this position for five years, she became the Acting Vice President for Human Resources in 1991. Hadley also helped push for the start of the Critical Difference for Women Scholarship at Ohio State University. She retired from the university in 1995.</p>
