            <abstract id="ref20" label="Abstract">Barbara J. “Barbie” Tootle was a student and later an employee at the Ohio State University; she served as the coordinator for Greek affairs, and as the special assistant in the Office of the President. The Barbara J. Tootle Oral Histories contain an oral history of Tootle conducted by Raimund Goerler on December 8, 2011. In this interview, Tootle discusses both her student years and her time as the Coordinator of Greek Affairs and Special Assistant to the President at the Ohio State University. The collection also contains an oral history interview conducted with Tootle in conjunction with The Women's Place on April 9, 2014. Tootle describes her time at Ohio State University, both as a student and as a staff member. Throughout the interview, Tootle reflects on how student life on campus has changed during her lifetime. The collection contains interview transcripts and audio recordings on compact discs.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Barbara J. “Barbie” Tootle (born July 30, 1943) was a student and later an employee at the Ohio State University. Tootle graduated from the Ohio State University in 1965 with a bachelor of science in business administration. She served as the coordinator for Greek Affairs from 1974 until 1985. Then, Tootle worked as the program coordinator in the Office of the President until retiring in 1999 after 25 years of working at the Ohio State University. Upon her retirement, she then served as the vice chair of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association at Ohio State University. Tootle received the Distinguished Service Award from the university in 2008; she is also honored through the Barbie Tootle Buckeye Spirit Award, which is presented to individuals who have demonstrated unconditional loyalty and support of women's Buckeye athletics.</p>

                    <p>Oral history interview of Barbie Tootle, former Coordinator of Greek Affairs and Special Assistant to President E. Gordon Gee. Tootle describes her time at Ohio State University, both as a student and as a staff member. After receiving a master's degree in Sociology, she became Coordinator of Greek Affairs. Her eleven years as Coordinator eventually led her to take a position as program coordinator in the Office of the President, which then led to her final position at the University, as Special Assistant to the President. Throughout the interview, Tootle reflects on how student life on campus has changed during the second half of the twentieth century and the early part of the 21st century, particularly for women.</p>
