 Biographical Note

Edward S. “Beanie” Drake (April 22, 1876-March 23, 1967) was the director of the first Ohio Union at the Ohio State University from 1913 until 1946. Drake was one of the founders of the Association of College Unions, and served as its secretary from 1919 to 1932, then as its president in 1933. His service at the Ohio State University did not stop as director of the first Ohio Union; he was also the advisor to ten student organizations during his tenure. After his retirement, Drake was given the title of Manager Emeritus. The Edward S. Drake Scholarship Fund was named in his honor.

The Edward S. Drake Papers date from 1936 to 1963, and contain awards and certificates received by Drake in honor of his work at the Ohio State University.
