 Biographical Note

Dean A. Ramsey graduated from Ohio State University in 1952 with a degree from the Department of Landscape Architecture. Following a stint in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to campus in 1960 and worked in the University Architect's Office as a landscape architect. Ramsey also worked as the Director of Major Construction, where he was in charge of projects such as the construction of the veterinary hospital and the reconstruction of University Hall. He eventually became the Director of the Physical Plant, where he helped convert Ohio State University's heating system from coal to gas; he also dealt with the physical aftermath of the student protests in 1968. Ramsey also served as the Director of Grounds Maintenance and Physical Facilities, as well as the Vice-President for Physical Facilities at the Ohio State University before retiring in 1988 after almost 30 years of service.

The Dean Ramsey Oral History Transcript and Audiocassette Recordings contain a transcript and four audiocassettes containing an interview of Dean Ramsey by Kevlin Haire on August 29, 2007. In this interview, Ramsey discusses his nearly 30 year career with the Ohio State University, working as a landscape architect, changes on the campus, and his final position as the Vice President for Physical Facilities.
