Wendell William Ellenwood (born January 14, 1922) was a part of the Ohio State University as both a student and a member of the administration. As an undergraduate student, he was a part of the marching band, the ROTC, and played polo. Ellenwood served in Europe during World War II, earning a Purple Heart. He returned to Ohio State University after the war. Following his graduation from Ohio State University with his Masters in Public Administration in 1947, he went on to serve in the United States Civil Service from 1947 to 1958. While in the civil service, Ellenwood helped develop a national program to draw interest in federal careers to college graduates. Following this, Ellenwood returned to the Ohio State University and became the director of the Ohio and Drake Unions from 1958 until his retirement in 1983. He also served as the president of the Ohio State University Alumni Club.
