 Biographical Note

Harold Kent Schellenger (September 4, 1902-January 30, 1987) was the director of the News Bureau at Ohio State University. He began serving in this position starting in 1933. Schellenger pushed for the renaming of the News Bureau to Bureau of Public Relations at the University. The department’s title was changed in 1943, and his title was changed to director of Public Relations. Schellenger served at Ohio State University for fifteen years, leaving the University in 1947.

 Scope and Contents

The Harold K. Schellenger Oral History Transcript contains a transcript of an oral history of Schellenger conducted in 1984. In the oral history, Schellenger discusses his time as Director of the News Bureau and Director of Public Relations at Ohio State University.
