 Biographical Note

Ruth Weimer Mount (1926-1997) was the assistant to the dean of women at Ohio State University from 1953 until 1955. She became the assistant dean of women at Ohio State University in 1955 and served until 1960. In 1960, Mount became the associate dean of women and director of women’s housing at Ohio State; she served in this position until 1967. Mount then served as the associate dean of student relations in 1967 until 1968. In 1968, Mount was promoted to be the first dean of students at Ohio State University. She resigned from this position in 1969, but continued to be active at Ohio State even after her resignation. Mount received the Distinguished Service Award from Ohio State University in 1988. The Mount Leadership Society Scholars Program is named in her honor.

 Scope and Contents

The Ruth Weimer Papers contain correspondence, awards, photographs and other materials, much of which relates to the Mortar Board Society.

These records are the personal memorabilia and files of Ruth Mount and are primarily connected with Mortar Board and OSU. The files cover many subjects including Mortar Board's 75th anniversary, the Alumni Council, and personal correspondence. Artifacts include photographs, a collage of Mrs. Mount's life, a Mortar Board scrapbook, plaques, certificates, and awards.
