Christine Yerges Conaway (1901-1989) was the former dean of women at Ohio State University from 1944 until 1967. Conaway first joined the university faculty in 1937 as assistant to the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. In the same year, she served as the executive secretary of the Ohio State University Mother’s Association. She then became the secretary of the College of Arts and Sciences in 1942 and was appointed to the deanship of women in 1944. Conaway was the president of Ohio State University Faculty Women’s Club in 1950 until 1951. In 1950, Conaway was elected as the vice president of the National Association of Deans of Women and served until 1954. Conaway retired from Ohio State University in 1967 and received the Distinguished Service Award in 1968. In 1972, she served as the Dean of Women Emeritus.
