            <p>The Gerald H. Newsom Papers consist of four letters (digital copies) that Newsom wrote to his family in May and June 1970 about events on campus associated with the student demonstrations. It also consists of an oral history interview recording and transcript from 2019 in which Newsom discusses his career as a professor of astronomy at The Ohio State University.</p>

                    <p>In an interview Gerald Newsom discusses his career as a professor of Astronomy at Ohio State. Included are discussions about his academic experiences, his leadership roles as vice chair and associate dean, and his participation in the Columbus Project, an international telescope initiative from which Ohio State University eventually withdrew. He also discusses various volunteer activities in which he has participated since retirement.</p>
