 Biographical Note

Joan M. Herbers served as dean of the College of Biological Sciences at Ohio State University. She was also a professor in the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology and the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

The Joan Herbers Oral History Transcript and Compact Disc contains a printed transcript and audio recordings on compact disc of an oral history interview with Herbers conducted by Maria Barbero on February 11, 2014. Professor Herbers discusses her involvement as principal investigator for OSU’s Project CEOS (Comprehensive Equity at Ohio State), her family background, academic career, gender issues she’s faced throughout her academic career, and general issues at Ohio State regarding academic politics, ethnicity, gender, and faculty retirement.
