            <p>Marlene Blaney Longenecker (1945-2014) was a professor in the Department of English and Department of Women's Studies at Ohio State University. She taught 18th and 19th century British literature. She also served as a director of the Center for Women's Studies.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Marlene Longenecker Oral History Transcript and Compact Disc Recording contains a printed transcript and audio recordings on compact disc of an oral history of Marlene Longenecker conducted by Susan Hartmann on November 15, 2013. Professor Longenecker discusses her career at Ohio State University, growing up in California, and her education. She describes the beginning of the Women’s Studies program at Ohio State University and its development into a department, the National Women’s Studies Convention held at OSU in 1983, the atmosphere for women and minorities in the Department of English, and the role and obstacles of women faculty members on campus.</p>
