Biographical Note

Alpheus Wilson Smith (1876-1968) was a professor of physics at Ohio State University. He was also dean of the Graduate School from 1939 to 1946. His research focus was on spectroscopy. After his retirement he served as president of The Ohio State University Research Foundation from 1946 to 1957.
