Rudine Sims Bishop was a professor and dean in the Ohio State University College of Education, where she taught courses in children's literature.

 Scope and Contents

The Rudine Sims Bishop Oral History Transcript and Compact Disc Recording contains a printed transcript and audio recording on compact disc of an oral history with Rudine Sims Bishop conducted by Evelyn Freeman on August 16, 2013. Professor Bishop discusses her career as a professor focusing on multicultural children’s literature in the College of Education, coming to Ohio State University as the second African-American female full professor on campus. She also discusses her time in the College of Education as a dean, her role in hiring faculty, and the atmosphere for women and minority faculty and staff. Additional topics include the efforts to diversify the student body and address issues of general equality and diversification at the University.
