Thompson Papers contain a pair of snow shoes used by Lonnie Thompson, an ice core drill fabricated at the Byrd Polar Research Center, and a recording of a 2012 Franklin Institute Award Ceremony. Lonnie Thompson was a professor of geological sciences at Ohio State University and research scientist at the Byrd Polar Climate and Research Center as of 2017.</abstract>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Lonnie G. Thompson Papers contain a pair of snow shoes used by Lonnie Thompson in Peru during the 1970s and an ice core drill fabricated at the Byrd Polar Research Center and used by Lonnie and his wife Ellen in field research, circa 1970s. It also contains a DVD recording of the 2012 Franklin Institute Award Ceremony where Lonnie Thompson and Ellen Mosley-Thompson received the Franklin Award on April 26, 2012, in a ceremony in Philadelphia.</p>
