Jules B. LaPidus (1931-2007) was a former professor of pharmacy at The Ohio State University; he also served as the Vice Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, a position he held until 1984. At that time, he left to take the position of President of the Council of Graduate Schools, a Washington, D.C. based organization representing graduate education across the United States.
The Jules B. LaPidus Oral History Transcript and Audiocassette Recordings dates from March 18, 1984. In it, LaPidus describes his career at Ohio State, which spanned nearly three decades. He joined the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy faculty in 1958, as an assistant professor of medicinal chemistry, and became a full professor in 1967. In 1972, he was named Associate Dean for Research in Ohio State's Graduate School and, in 1974, he became Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost for Research. He left Ohio State University in 1984, when he became President of the Washington, D.C.-based Council of Graduate Schools. He held this position until he retired in 2000.
