Ilse Wilhelmi, who was an assistant professor of University Libraries and a librarian at Ohio State University, discusses the challenging times for the Ohio State University Libraries, Departmental Libraries, and the 1952 fire in Lord Hall that was very destructive for library collections.</abstract>

            <p>Ilse Emma Wilhelmi (1894-1993) was an assistant professor of University Libraries at Ohio State University. She was a librarian at Ohio State University for 34 years, from 1931 through the 1960s.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Ilse Welhelmi Oral History Transcript and Audiocassette Recordings contain a transcript and audiocassettes of an oral history interview with Ilse Wilhelmi conducted by Jay Ladd on November 7, 1984. Interview discussion topics include Welhelmi recalling the 1930s and 1940s as challenging times for the Libraries as there were shortages of staff and funds, the responsibility for Departmental Libraries, their expansion, the additions of the Annex and Stack Tower to the Main Library, and the 1952 fire in Lord Hall that was very destructive for library collections.</p>
