 Biographical Note

Robert Edwin Jewett (1913-2010) was a professor of humanities education at Ohio State University. His emphasis was in social studies education and sociology of the school.

 Scope and Contents

The Robert E. Jewett Oral History Transcript and Audiocassette Recordings contain a transcript and audiocassette recordings of an oral history interview with Dr. Jewett conducted by Dr. M. Eugene Gilliom on September 4, 2003. Interview discussion topics include growing up around the Ohio State University campus and attending the university as a student. Jewett discusses his graduate education and return to OSU as a faculty member, where many of his students were veterans of WWII. He also discusses his tenure as a department chair, the student riots of 1970, and the role of the Faculty Club.
