George Leroy Converse (1857-1946) came to Ohio State University in 1900 as commandant of the Military Science & Tactics Department. He was appointed regional inspector of the Student Army Training Corps during World War I.
The George L. Converse Correspondence and Coffee Urn contains correspondence and a silver-plated urn, with inscription, given to then-Captain George L. Converse by the cadet officer class of 1910.
