            <p>Charles Henry Summerson (1914-2008) was a professor in the School of Earth Sciences at Ohio State University. His teaching and research focused on geologic mapping and sedimentary geology.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Charles Henry Summerson Papers contain a notebook of drawings of fossils and their identifications, grouped by geologic period and including classification charts. The collection also contains an oral history interview transcript and audiocassettes. Interview discussion topics include the U.S. Geological survey as it applied to Ohio geology, the development of the Department of Geodetic Science, and Summerson's involvement in other projects at Ohio State University.</p>
