 Biographical Note

Elmer Frederick Baumer (1923-2016) was a professor of agricultural economics at Ohio State University. He also served as Associate Dean of the University College and the Graduate School, and as Associate Provost of Ohio State University.

 Scope and Contents

The Elmer Baumer Papers contain Baumer's personal and professional correspondence, notes regarding the 1968 seizure of the administration building, and files related to his involvement as associate provost on the Ohio Demonstration Project and Federal Demonstration Project. The collection also contains an oral history interview transcript and audiocassette recording of Elmer Baumer conducted by Fred Roecker on February 28, 2002. Interview discussion topics include the founding and development of University College, the establishment of the Ohio Board of Regents in 1963, the interactions of University College with main and regional campuses of the Ohio State University, and the abolition of University College.
