 Biographical Note

Paul Edwin Droste (1936-) was Ohio State University's Marching Band Director from 1970 to 1984. In 1966, Droste was hired as an assistant Marching Band director and euphonium instructor in the OSU School of Music, but he left in 1969 to finish his doctorate at the University of Arizona. In 1970, he returned to OSU to be director of the OSU Marching Band. During his tenure as Marching Band Director, Droste led the Band on many trips with the football team, including 13 Bowl games. The Band also played at professional football games, rotating between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. It was also during his tenure that women were first admitted to the Band.

 Scope and Contents

The Paul Edwin Droste Oral Histories contain a transcript from an oral history conducted by the International Tuba-Euphonium Association in 2000. It also contains a transcript and audiocassettes from an oral history interview conducted by Kevlin Haire at the Ohio State University Archives in 2007.
