Biographical Note

Thomas Corwin Mendenhall (1841-1924) was appointed the first professor of physics and mechanics at the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College (later the Ohio State University).

This series contains a bronze bas relief of Thomas Mendenhall created by Bruce Saville. The inscription indicates that the relief was given to Mendenhall by the survivors of the first group of students on the 50th anniversary of their enrollment in 1923.
