            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>John Howell Janeway Upham, Jr. (1871-1960) began teaching at Starling-Ohio Medical College, later the College of Medicine at Ohio State University, in 1896. He became Chairman of the Department of Medicine in 1914, Dean of the College of Medicine in 1927, and Director of the University Hospital in 1938. Upham retired from Ohio State University in 1941.</p>
