            <p>Ralph Fanning (1889-1971) was a professor of history of art at Ohio State University from 1922 to 1956. He was a draftsman and water colorist and is known for his architectural paintings of Ohio State University and the city of Columbus.</p>

                    <p>This series contains three watercolor paintings, matted and framed behind glass by Ralph Fanning. The scenes are identified on the front of each painting and all are signed. 
                        <emph render="italic">The Street Scene in Chillicothe</emph> has a note on the back with Fanning's name, the title, and "School of Fine and Applied Arts, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio."</p>
