Carl Warren Gay (1877-1961) came to Ohio State University as an associate professor of animal husbandry in 1906. He returned to accept the appointment to serve as chairman of the Ohio State University Department of Animal Husbandry from 1920 to 1940. He retired from this administrative post to teach full time until his retirement in 1947.
