Richard Meiling joined the Ohio State University faculty in 1947 and later served as Dean of the College of Medicine, Ohio State University's first Vice President for Medical Affairs, and Director of University Hospitals.</abstract>

            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Richard Lewis Meiling (1908-1984) joined the Ohio State University faculty in 1947 and was named a professor of obstetrics and gynecology in 1953. He served as Dean of the College of Medicine from 1961-1970, Ohio State University's first Vice President for Medical Affairs from 1970-1974, and Director of University Hospitals from 1961-1974.</p>

            <head>Scope and Contents</head>
            <p>The Richard Lewis Meiling Papers contain an oral history interview transcript and audiocassettes of Dr. Meiling conducted by Robert Sutton on November 21 and 30, 1983. It also contains newspaper clippings concerning Dr. Meiling, correspondence, scrapbooks, reprints of articles and biographical materials from 1951 to 1984.</p>
