Lawrence Edward Kunkle enrolled at Ohio State University in 1928. He became an assistant in the Meat Laboratory Campus Service in 1933 and taught laboratory courses. In 1934 he became an instructor and in 1936 became a faculty member of the Animal Science Department.
The Lawrence Edward Kunkle Papers contain typescript drafts of papers, correspondence, clippings, photos, conference reports, minutes of meetings, newsletters and materials related to Professor Kunkle's research on meat quality. It also contains material on the Meat Laboratory and the agricultural honor society Gamma Sigma Delta. Dates on the collection span from 1956-1959, and 1981.
