The Ohio State University Research Foundation was formed through the joint efforts of the University and the Ohio State University Association in 1936. The Foundation was established in order to “promote the development, implementation, and coordination of sponsored research at the University in the furtherance of its educational objectives.” A Board of Directors was originally established with 15 members chosen by the Foundation membership, and authorized to select an executive committee.
