 Historical Note

The Ohio State University Research Foundation was formed through the joint efforts of the University and the Ohio State University Association in 1936. The Foundation was established in order to coordinate sponsored research at the University. In 1971 the U.S. Department of Education created three model training projects designed to develop and test "models for training development, dissemination, and evaluation personnel," as well as research methodologists. One of these projects was awarded to The Ohio State University, tasking the University's Evaluation Center with developing a consortium of agencies to carry out the training model and develop training programs. This consortium created evaluation training resources for educational evaluators.

 Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University Research Foundation (OSURF) Model Training Project Records contain four categories of documents produced by the Research Foundation’s involvement in a U.S. Department of Education model training project, dated 1962-1974. The first category is general records, including meeting minutes, handbooks, newsletters, and other publications. The second category contains progress reports of the project, the third contains proposals, and the fourth is records dealing with the consortium membership that was created by the University to assist in developing education evaluator training programs.
