 Historical Note

The Ohio State University Research Foundation was formed through the joint efforts of the University and the Ohio State University Association in 1936. The Foundation was established in order to “promote the development, implementation, and coordination of sponsored research at the University in the furtherance of its educational objectives.” A Board of Directors was originally established with 15 members chosen by the Foundation membership, and authorized to select an Executive Committee and endorse new leadership as needed. The Board contained members from five different categories, the National Councilor Group, the Alumni Group, the Trustee Group, the Industrial Councilor Group, and the Research Group.

 Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University Research Foundation (OSURF), Board of Directors Records contain files on individual Board of Trustee members within the Foundation. The files are labeled with one of the corresponding groups each member belonged to on the Board: the National Councilor Group, the Alumni Group, the Trustee Group, the Industrial Councilor Group, or the Research Group, or they are labeled with the Ohio State University office or corporation the member belonged to.
