Historical Note
The Centennial Committee was formed by Ohio State University President Novice G. Fawcett in 1967. The committee, representing all the major units and interest groups of the university, was tasked with planning the celebration of Ohio State University's 100th anniversary in 1970, and with discussing what the University's goals for the next 100 years would be. The committee was chaired by Dr. Al Garrett, who was previously working as a Vice President under President Fawcett.
Scope and Contents
The Ohio State University, Centennial Committee, Chairman Records contain committee notes and reports, budgets, historical research, centennial reports from individual campus units, and other administrative files belonging to Al Garrett during the time he served as the chairman of the Centennial Committee. It also contains a resolution from the Ohio House of Representatives commending The Ohio State University for their centennial milestone. Collection materials are dated 1883-1971.
