 Historical Note

As of 2018, The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU) is an advocacy and research organization committed to the advancement of public universities in North America. It was founded in 1887 as The Association of American Agricultural Colleges and Experiment Stations. In 1919, this organization merged with the Land-Grant College Engineering Association to form the American Association of Land-Grant Colleges. In 1926, it became known as the Association of Land-Grant Colleges and Universities, and in 1954, the American Association of Land-Grant Colleges and State Universities. In 1963, it merged again, this time with the National Association of State Universities and the State Universities Association, and the two became known as the National Association of State Universities and Land-grant Colleges (NASULGC). In 2009, it became the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.

 Scope and Contents

The National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges Records contain circular letters, policy statements, Ohio State University job postings, and a booklet. The materials are dated 1947-1976.
