The Ohio State University Patent Committee was established in 1962 to determine whether patentable discoveries or inventions made by University faculty resulted from research conducted in conjunction with university facilities, advise whether the university should pursue new patents, and other administrative duties related to patents and their royalties. The committee worked on changing legislation in the Ohio State Assembly in 1962 so that all patent royalties at the university didn't go to the university, and instead were divided among those who had earned them. The committee was active until at least 1969.
The Ohio State University, Patent Committee Records contain minutes, research conducted on patent legislation, research on patent policies at other universities, correspondence, and action reports, including lists of pending or issued patents related to the university.
