The Accounting Hall of Fame was founded in 1950 at Ohio State University to honor accountants who have made significant contributions to the field of accounting. One to four new members are elected annually at the August meeting of the American Accounting Association, though occasionally no nominees are approved for induction. In 1973, there was controversy over including Maurice H. Stans as a member, due to his position as Nixon’s Finance Chairman and later confessions of fraud. In 1994, it was renamed the International Accounting Hall of Fame, and in 2017, the American Accounting Association began handling the awards process and nominees. Katherine Schipper, the first woman to receive the award, was inducted in 2007. As of 2018, only 3 of the 97 members are women, and the majority of members are American and affiliated with the “Big 6” financial companies.
This collection contains a scrapbook, publications, directories, and other administrative records, dated 1958-2000.
Programs, brochures, and membership profiles from the Accounting Hall of Fame and a scrapbook about Beta Alpha Psi. Also included are three books which are collections of the writings of T. Coleman Andrews, Samuel J. Broad, and James L. Pierce.
