In 1959, the Division of Geodetic Science was established in the Department of Geology, although Geodetic Science was taught on campus prior to the formation of this division. In 1961, the Division became the Department of Geodetic Science. In 1995, the department moved from the College of Math and Physical Sciences to the College of Engineering, and the next year (1996) the department merged with the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Graphics; the combined units were renamed the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science.
The Ohio State University, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science Records contains topographical maps of campus from 1957-1963 and publications dating from 1983-1999.
