            <head>Historical Note</head>
            <p>The Orton Geological Museum has been housed in Orton Hall since the building's completion in 1893. The original collections were comprised of specimens gathered by Edward Orton, the Ohio State University's first President and first Professor of Geology, beginning in 1874. As of 2021, the museum houses examples of rocks, minerals, fossils, a dinosaur skeleton, and other geological specimens.</p>
