The ICSABER Society was organized at Ohio State University in October of 1966. The society's name was an acronym that stood for "Research in Basic Science." The organization consisted of University faculty interested in basic research in the biological and health sciences. They met frequently to listen to members lecture on various topics. Around 1974, the organization began sponsoring an annual life sciences graduate student research forum, where they awarded the best presentations. The ICSABER Society remained active until at least 1997, and was not active as of 2017.
