            <head>Historical Note</head>
            <p>Beginning in the 1960's, the Ohio State University Cooperative Extension Service began to develop its own film library as an educational tool. The library produced short features on 16mm film that could be distributed to television stations throughout the state. The library also produced audio recordings for use on the radio.</p>

            <p>Ohio State University, Cooperative Extension Service, Film Library Records contain 16mm motion picture films produced by John V. Schmidt, the assistant extension editor for television at the Cooperative Extension. Topics of the films include agricultural processing, farm and vehicle safety, and home economics related topics such as personal finance, nutrition, and child development. The films were made with the intention for broadcast by local TV stations. The collection also includes magnetic tapes of audio recordings, as well as publications about the film library. Materials date from 1963 to 1977.</p>
