 Historical Note

The Department of Dairying at the Ohio State University opened in 1906, though courses in dairy farming had been offered before that time. The department became the Department of Dairy Technology in 1929, with all courses in dairy production moving to the Department of Animal Husbandry. In 1971, the Department of Dairy Technology was discontinued, and the Department of Food Science and Nutrition was formed.

 Scope and Contents

The Ohio State University, Department of Dairy Technology Records contain various publications, files on short courses, committees, Dairy Plant operations, various national and state dairy associations, project reports on dairy research, and files on an antibiotic research grant obtained from the United States Public Health Service. The materials are dated 1930-1972.
