 Historical Note

In 1862, the Morrill Act generated funds to establish land grant colleges in the United States. As a result, The Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College (later The Ohio State University) was established in 1870. The various courses of study at the university were classified into four schools in 1884, one of which was the School of Agriculture. In 1896, six colleges were formed out of the University’s schools, officially establishing a College of Agriculture and Domestic Science, later known as just the College of Agriculture. In 1958, the Board of Trustees changed the name again to the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, joining the two areas of study. The College of Home Economics was separated from the College of Agriculture in the 1980s.

Ohio State University, College of Agriculture and Home Economics, Office of the Dean Publications contain research bulletins, posters, schedules, circulars, and an issue of the Agri-Naturalist magazine. Publications on Farmer's Institutes and Ohio 4-H are also included in the collection.
