The Ohio State University began offering courses in agriculture at its founding in 1870. In 1896, six colleges were formed out of the University’s schools, officially establishing a College of Agriculture and Domestic Science, later known as just the College of Agriculture. In 1958, the Board of Trustees changed the name to the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, joining the two areas of study.
